Jor-El is a Kryptonian scientist who foresaw the planet's impending doom in DC Comics lore. He is best known as the biological father of Superman, sending his infant son, Kal-El, to Earth moments before Krypton's destruction to ensure the survival of their race. He is generally portrayed as a genius and a loving parent.

He first appeared in *Action Comics* #1 (June 1938), the same issue as Superman's debut. He’s often depicted providing guidance to Superman through recordings or holographic projections.

In *The Lego Batman Movie*, Jor-El appears briefly as a digitized figure who sends Kal-El away from Krypton. He is presented humorously, highlighting the absurdity of his son's journey.
